What
is GlassNet?
GlassNet
is the new online
dealer portal from
Glass’s. Within GlassNet
you’ll find several
applications that
are designed to save
you time, effort
and cost. We’re also
giving you more than
you’ve ever had from
us – in terms of
access to valuation
data and our Editors,
access to wider data
sets that will allow
you to send the very
best quality ads
to websites and access
to used car pricing
data specific to
your business – all
of which is intended
to give GlassNet
members a real competitive
advantage.
What
are the different modules?
GlassNet
will initially contain
the following modules:
GlassNet
Advertising
This
component allows
you to create accurate
used car listings
with the minimum
of effort. By entering
the vehicle registration
number, within seconds
the system will identify
the vehicle and will
return the make,
model, derivative,
key technical data
such as number of
doors, transmission
type and engine size
along with standard
fit specification.
You will simply need
to ‘tick’ boxes associated
with cost options
fitted to the vehicle,
enter unlimited free
text, add up to five
images for each vehicle
along with a retail
price and the record
will be ready to
broadcast to all
major motoring websites
within the UK.
GlassNet
Valuation
GlassNet
Valuation builds
on the content of
the printed Glass’s
Guide, offering almost
50% additional valuations
enabling you to more
accurately value
used vehicle stock.
Using a vehicle registration
number as the starting
point, GlassNet will
access DVLA records
and our valuation
databases and within
seconds deliver trade
and retail values
to make/model/derivative
level, assuming average
mileage for the year.
You will be able
to further adjust
the valuation for
mileage and non-standard
cost options fitted
to the vehicle, giving
you a more accurate
valuation than you
would achieve through
using the Guide alone.
An additional valuation
service will allow
members to conduct
a monthly reappraisal
of the value of stock
held within the system
by the click of a
button, cutting out
the manual process
undertaken by many
Glass’s Guide subscribers
at the beginning
of each month.
GlassNet
Trade
GlassNet
Trade will allow
members to trade
vehicles amongst
each other.
Dealers
wishing to trade
stock will simply
tick a permissions
flag within the vehicle
record that will
automatically send
the chosen vehicle
to the GlassNet Trade
database. There will
be no charge to add
vehicles to the GlassNet
Trade database.
Members
wishing to source
vehicles will be
able to change their
preferences each
time they log-in.
Preferences will
be linked to the
vehicles that they
wish to source, including
(but not limited
to), make, model,
derivative, doors,
transmission, fuel,
colour, mileage and
price.
GlassNet
Point of Sale
Available
to subscribers of
either GlassNet Advertising
or GlassNet Valuation,
this solution will
allow members to
create bespoke point-of-sale
marketing material
for each vehicle.
Another output will
be a bespoke stock
list that the dealer
would be able to
configure based on
a customer’s requirements
(e.g. a customer
may be interested
in several vehicles,
and this function
would allow the dealer
to print a single
document that would
contain all relevant
vehicles).
Do
I have to take all
modules or can I pick
and choose?
You
can pick and choose,
but we intend to
offer alternative
fixed packages that
bundle certain modules
together, offering
a saving over the
‘list’ price of each
module when bought
separately.
Can
I add to my modules
over time?
Yes,
you can upgrade your
subscription whenever
you like.
Can
I still use Trader
Desk?
Yes
you can, although
we’ll be contacting
you soon to talk
to you about moving
your subscription
over to GlassNet.
There will be no
cost-to-change.
What
if I don’t want to
migrate from Trader
Desk to GlassNet?
We
will be supporting
Trader Desk for some
time, but at some
point we will withdraw
it from the market.
We are confident
that GlassNet is
a superior product
and have made every
effort to ensure
that it functions
at least as well
as Trader Desk.
What’s
the difference between
GlassNet and competing
systems on the market
place?
As
far as we are aware,
GlassNet is the only
online system currently
on the market giving
its subscribers the
greatest flexibility
to update stock from
any PC at any time.
GlassNet is also
the only system to
pull on the extensive
identification and
specification database
maintained by Glass’s
and populated from
data sourced directly
from manufacturers.
How
much is GlassNet?
The
cost is dependent
upon which modules
or packages are bought.
GlassNet Advertising,
the first module
to be released, will
cost less than £50
per week and will
broadcast your stock
to Fish4Cars, Telegraph,
WhatCar, Autocar,
Motors Today and
Desperate Seller
(includes BBC TopGear
and The Independent).
How
much are the various
modules?
We
are currently undertaking
market research to
determine the cost
of other modules
still in development.
We will also use
this research to
help us bundle the
right modules together
ensuring that we
deliver against our
customers’ needs.
How
soon can I start using
GlassNet?
As
soon as you receive
your log-in details
from us. We aim to
have these sent to
you within 24 hours
of you signing the
order form.
How
do I sign up and become
a member?
You
need to visit the Registration
Page.
Once you have completed
the registration
form, one of our
sales consultants
will contact you
to arrange a visit
to your premises
so that we can qualify
your needs and demonstrate
GlassNet to you.
At this point you
will be required
to sign an order
form which will be
the basis of our
agreement with you
and the content of
this order form will
be emailed to our
Customer Services
team so that they
can set you up with
your log-in details.
How
often is the data updated?
Data
is currently updated
monthly, although
we are looking at
increasing the frequency
of updates and expect
to improve the speed
over time.
Are
data updates automatic?
Yes,
as updates are made
to the system the
new data will be
available to use.
How
do I “install” GlassNet?
No
installation is required.
GlassNet is an online
product so you will
be provided with
a website address,
login and password
to access the application.
What
training is required
to use GlassNet?
Training
is provided on site
and will last approximately
1 hour
How
much is training?
Initial
training is included
in the overall pricing.
How
many PC’s will run
GlassNet on my licence?
GlassNet
is an online product
and can be accessed
from any PC. Logins
and passwords are
created for each
user and additional
logins can be requested
from Glass’s Customer
Services on 01932
823823 or customer@eurotaxglass.co.uk
(GlassNet
Advertising specific)
How
many images can I
upload for each record?
At
the moment you can
upload a maximum
of 5 images to each
record. However,
we will be improving
the system over the
next few months to
allow you to add
more than 5 images.
You
can add unlimited
free text to each
vehicle description,
allowing you the
flexibility over
the amount of information
that is contained
within online advertisements.
What
technical data is included?
Technical
data includes engine
size and power, performance
figures, measurements
and weights, fuel
consumption and CO2
ratings.
How
do I add create a stock
record?
You
can add a vehicle
in three ways:
- VRM
Look-up
This
method allows
you to enter
the registration
number to ‘qualify’
the vehicle.
By accessing
DVLA data and
Glass’s databases,
the GlassNet
system will
identify and
describe (to
a basic level)
the specification
of the corresponding
vehicle.
- Glass
Code
If
you are a Glass’s
Guide subscriber,
and you don’t
have the registration
number of the
vehicle to
hand, you can
enter the four
digit alpha-numeric
Glass Code
to ‘qualify’
the vehicle.
Every vehicle
valued within
Glass’s Guide
has its own
unique code
identified
on the page.
By entering
the Glass Code
the system
will identify
and describe
(to a basic
level) the
specification
of the corresponding
vehicle.
- Search
Tree
If
you have neither
the registration
number or the
Glass Code,
you can use
the search
tree to ‘qualify’
the vehicle.
By selecting
the month and
year, make,
model and number
of doors of
the vehicle,
then clicking
on the appropriate
derivative
that is returned
against the
search, the
system will
identify and
describe (to
a basic level)
the specification
of the corresponding
vehicle.
What
options data is included?
Because
GlassNet accesses
manufacturer sourced
information, the
system will automatically
present all of the
standard specification
information and cost
options that were
available when new.
All you will need
to do is scroll down
the page and tick
the relevant boxes
to identify the non-standard
cost options. You
will also be able
to view the standard
options fitted to
the vehicle by clicking
a separate tab.
Can
I add my own ‘options’?
Yes
you can. GlassNet
allows you to create
your own ‘options’
that can be selected
for each record without
the need for you
to have to type them
in more than once.
As an example, you
might wish to add
12-months warranty,
6-months Tax, Part-Exchange
considered. Once
you have typed and
saved each option,
the system will make
them available within
a drop-down table
each time you are
creating a new record.
You can also add,
amend and delete
your options to suit
your current requirements.
What
consumer automotive
websites can I broadcast
to?
GlassNet

send your stock to
the following websites:

The Independent)

Network
Q (where relevant)

Can
I pick and choose the
consumer automotive

to broadcast my stock
to?

of your online advertising
distribution. Our
partners on this
offer are Fish4Cars,
Autocar, Desperate
Seller network (includes
BBC Top Gear and
The Independent),
The Daily Telegraph,
WhatCar? Autofone,
Skupe.Net and Motors
Today. The cost for
all of these sites
is less
than £50 per week.
You
can also buy Exchange & Mart,
Carsource and Yahoo
Cars from us (for

your local representative),
and we have relationships
with Auto Trader
and eBay Motors that
enables GlassNet
customers to send
stock to these websites,
although you will
need to buy advertising
from them.
How
do I create Point-of-Sale
marketing material?
Once
you have completed
the process of adding
the vehicle to stock,
GlassNet allows you
to print ‘Silent
Sales Sheets’ for
each vehicle. Just
follow the easy-to-follow
on screen prompts.
I
have imported my stock
from Trader Desk. Why
are certain vehicles
missing?
If
you loaded the stock
from Trader Desk
within the last 24
hours, the import
may not have pulled
through the most
recent vehicles.
Please enter these
manually.
What
happens when I click
“Save” or “Save and
Broadcast”?
Once
you click “save”,
all the vehicle details
you have entered
will be saved and
the vehicle will
be added to stock.
You can review and
edit this information
at any time by going
to Dealer Stock and
selecting the vehicle.
When
you click “save and
broadcast”, the vehicle
details are saved
and broadcast immediately
to your selected
broadcast partners.
To review progress
of the broadcast,
click Broadcast Status.
Why
am I unable to select
certain broadcast partners
on the Broadcast vehicles
screen?
The
“Broadcast vehicles”
screen displays a
list of all broadcast
partners available
to GlassNet users.
Those broadcast partners
to which you do not
currently subscribe
will not be active
so it will not be
possible to select
them and your stock
will not be broadcast
to these sites. To
update the list of
broadcast partners
to which you subscribe,
please contact Customer
Services on 01932
823823 or via e-mail
at customer@eurotaxglass.co.uk
Which
fields do I have to
complete before the
vehicle is added to
stock?
Once
the vehicle has been
identified and qualified,
no field is mandatory
in GlassNet. However,
the more information
you include in your
advertisements, the
more effective they
are likely to be.
Which
options appear in the
advertisement?
The
top 20 options appear
in the advertisement
for a vehicle. You
can select and order
the options to be
displayed in the
advertisement using
the Select Options
tab.
Why
am I unable to log
onto GlassNet?
If
you have the pop-up
blocker switched
on, this will prevent
you logging on to
GlassNet. To turn
off the blocker or
add GlassNet to the
list of permitted
sites, please go
to Tools > Pop
up blocker
